Position summary: Roy Jorgensen Associates Inc. is currently seeking Part time Seasonal On Call Snow and Ice Control Drivers to perform snow and ice maintenance operations in the Austin TX area during emergency snow and ice events. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to highway/roadway snow and ice maintenance namely driving vehicles to apply snow and ice control materials on the roadways performing tasks as needed at the material stockpiles as well as adherence to all applicable federal state and local regulations as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures.
Salary:
$28.00 an hour. 4 hour minimum.
$42.00 an hour after 40 hours worked in a week. (Week runs Sunday 12AM to Saturday 11:59PM)
Required Experience:
Clean driving record is essential
Must pass criminal background check
Preferred Experience:
CDL A or CDL B license
Experience with driving in snow/ice/slick conditions
Roadway maintenance experience
Snowplow experience
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Maintain company standards for background checks (i.e. criminal record driving record and controlled substance/drug testing)
Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Carry out simple arithmetic functions
Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
Ability to use smart phone and applications
Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly while twisting; other strenuous manual labor may be required
Ability to operate hand/power tools
Schedule:
- On Call - Part Time. Must be able to work 12 hours shifts with short notice once calls come in to apply snow and ice materials to the road.
- Attendance required for paid pre-season training offered on Saturdays. Snow season runs November-March. This paid training is approximately 4-6 hours and will cover routes vehicle operations and basic onboarding courses. Further communication will be provided upon hire.
