Description of Work
The Cooperative Grading Service a collaborative program between the USDA and the NC Department of Agriculture plays a vital role in supporting the states fruit vegetable and peanut industries. Through impartial inspections and standardized grading we help ensure fair trade accurate settlements and consistent quality across the marketplace. Were seeking a dedicated F&V Inspector to join our team. Youll work alongside a Federal Market Inspector assisting with sample collection and grading fresh market produce according to USDA specifications. Your work directly impacts food quality and consumer trust across NC. As food safety and security become increasingly important our inspectors are expected to uphold the highest standards of personal hygiene and sanitation especially when working in processing plants.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $31200 - $52000

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of closely related work experience such as commodity grading farming quality control working in a processing plant in the area of assignment food service grocery and manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification: Ability to obtain licensure by USDA for commodities grader; possession of a valid state drivers license.
