Job Summary

Fixed term for 12 months.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Delivery Lead to join our Technology team.

As a Delivery Lead your role involves effective communication leadership advocating for continuous improvement within an agile environment. Youll collaborate closely with the engineering delivery teams and engage with cross-functional teams in technology to ensure successful project/product delivery within an agile framework.

The Role

The main responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Support implementation of the vision and strategic direction for the agile delivery team.
    • Ensure all activities are undertaken in consideration of and in line with Technology and CBS Strategies.
  • Leadership:
    • Encourage strong working relationships across CITO (Chief Information Technology Officer) teams and the wider business.
  • Roadmap:
    • Contribute to the building of the delivery team roadmap ensuring alignment with business priorities and user needs.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders including POs (Product Owners) PMs (Project Managers) and BAs (Business Analysts) to prioritise and deliver projects and services effectively.
    • Effectively communicate progress and any challenges faced with the delivery team roadmap.
  • Agile Ways of Working:
    • Support agile practices within the team and engineering delivery across the organisation.
    • Ensure the agile delivery team follows scrum and kanban methodologies emphasizing cross-functionality empowerment and self-organisation.
    • Facilitate collaboration among closely aligned delivery units.
    • Support and implement the evolution of the delivery teams ways of working.
  • Effective Communication and Collaboration:
    • Regularly communicate the teams vision goals and progress to all team members.
    • Minimise handovers by actively participating in requirements workshops and analysis sessions.
    • Support and contribute to regular show-and-tell sessions with other delivery teams and wider CITO.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to a supportive and collaborative culture which promotes strong working relationships across CITO teams and the wider business.
  • Quality Assurance and Safe Deployments:
    • Understand the end-to-end software release process and optimise delivery pipelines.
    • Uphold data privacy and information security standards during testing.
    • Ensure adherence to development and testing tooling and frameworks for high-quality outcomes.
    • To understand and be aware of the risk and control environment in your area of the business and adhere to processes procedures and policies in order to minimise risks.
  • Agile SDLC Practices:
    • Ensure team members attend daily stand-ups emphasising the kanban board and efficient task flow from right to left.
    • Communicate stand-up times and etiquette to wider project team members and stakeholders.
    • Facilitate regular planning sessions (at least fortnightly more frequently if needed) to drive delivery goals.
    • Minimise handoffs by promoting full team collaboration during analysis and test planning.
    • Shift testing left by breaking down tasks into small testable vertical slices on the kanban board.
    • Contribute to the functions Community of Practice for knowledge sharing.
    • Collaboratively define acceptance and test criteria.
    • Work with the team to set sprint goals establish the definition of done and define kanban gateway rules.
    • Conduct regular end-of-sprint demos/reviews for stakeholders.
    • Prioritise frequent retrospectives for continuous improvement.
    • Use metrics to identify bottlenecks within the teams workflow.
  • Agile Delivery Approach:
    • Advocate for iterative and incremental delivery to avoid mini-waterfall and big-bang approaches.
    • Ensure effective agile discovery inception and MVP phases.
    • Maintain the same iterative approach post-MVP for ongoing improvements and feature development.
    • Address risk early by front-loading it during inception.
    • Incorporate non-functional requirements upfront aligning them with the delivery roadmap and epics.

About You

Youll have significant experience in IT Software people and team coaching agile delivery methods and agile SDLC frameworks. We would ideally like experience of working within financial services or another highly regulated environment.

  • Strategic Vision: Able to step back from daytoday activities to view the business from a different perspective; to see the bigger picture distil information trends and needs to build credible strategies to achieve the desired vision and commercial outcomes. Understands the business environment and tailors strategic plans and adjusts goals when circumstances change.
  • Commercial/Member Focus: Balances business acumen with a passion for the member; focuses on maximising competitive position and member loyalty without compromising financial stability. Understands key commercial drivers e.g. cost profits markets and added value as well as thinking holistically about the members (internal and external).
  • Achievement Driven: Displays desire and drive for success projecting enthusiasm and having impact on others models drive and resilience and leads by example. Identifies with and strives hard to enable CBS to deliver against its objectives and financial requirements taking ownership for issues.
  • Risk Aware: Possesses a deep understanding of the regulatory environment. Ensures CBS is legally compliant and focuses on strict standards to protect the members assets and the stability of CBS. Promotes and fosters a culture of transparency in relation to risk both internally and externally. Ensure that this approach to risk is communicated at all levels throughout CBS.

Where you will work

Our aim is to keep the great balance we have achieved with hybrid working. The successful candidate would therefore be willing to work remotely and be able to work from Cumberland House as and when required.
