Project Engineering Intern

Scope of Job
PowerFlex an EDF Renewables company is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. The Company delivers integrated solar storage EV charging and microgrid systems to businesses and organizations. As a single full-service provider PowerFlex customizes clean technology solutions to help clients achieve their energy and sustainability goals. Through the comprehensive PowerFlex X platform PowerFlex leverages patented smart software to control monitor and optimize a clients distributed energy resources to reduce cost and maximize return on investment. Our technology was developed at Caltech deployed with research partners like NASA proven-out with customers like Netflix and Childrens Hospital and now scaling to fleets corporations and municipalities nationwide.

The Project Engineer Intern will be responsible for assisting the implementation of solar storage and EVSE infrastructure projects. They will be responsible for supporting project data management engineering design sets client/utility/contractor coordination purchase orders and project tracking. This individual will help the Project Engineer to coordinate all aspects of the project to ensure they are completed as quickly and as safely possible. The ideal candidate will be very detailed organized and able to manage time and priorities.

Location and Schedule
This hybrid role is based out of our New York City NY office. The selected candidate will be expected to work in person 3 days per week. Applicants must be local to New York Cityor willing to relocate though relocation expenses will not be covered by the company.

This is a full-time summer internship lasting 12 weeks from Monday June 8th to Friday August 28th. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
95% - Junior Project Engineering

• Support lead Project Engineer in all project-related endeavors
• Manage project data using applicable platforms (Procore Salesforce etc)
• Coordinate with client and/or site contact to schedule on-site meetings
• Assist in equipment delivery schedules
• Request quotes from vendors engineering partners
• Issue purchase orders change orders
• Interface with utilities to plan site meetings outages witness tests or similar

5% - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education/Experience

• Currently pursuing a bachelors degree (preferably rising or graduating Senior) in engineering construction sustainability or a related field
• Experience in CAD or other designing software
• Experience working in Commercial PV Solar is preferred

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Advanced computer skills (MS Office Word Excel Outlook)
• Professional dependable customer service oriented
• Ability to multi-task in in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing work activities and time efficiently
• Excellent communication both written and verbal
• Detail oriented - demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness to ensure work quality
• Strong initiative and ability to problem solve
• Self-starter who can complete tasks and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Understanding of electrical engineering and power systems
• Knowledge of Civil/Structural engineering is preferred

Compensation
The pay range for this position is $20 - $25 hourly.

Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.

Working Conditions
Approximately 90% of the time is spent in the office environment utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word MS Excel Outlook Access PowerPoint Publisher and Adobe etc.) telephones and general office equipment. Possibly 10% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
