About the Role

The Psychosocial Harm Prevention Specialist is a key role in the WHS Team whose primary purpose is to reduce the risk of psychosocial harm across Baptcare. A key accountability is assisting Baptcare to meet its health and safety obligations as they apply to psychosocial hazards. This role also provides subject matter expertise and support to the WHS Team and broader business as required.

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement a plan to identify assess control and review psychosocial hazards
  • Recommend strategies to reduce physical and psychological harm from psychosocial hazards in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Review or develop systems policies procedures and guidelines to establish safe and consistent work practices.
  • Contribute to incident debriefing processes following significant events
  • Gather and analyse information from multiple reporting systems to help prevent harm from psychosocial hazards
  • Collaborate with the WHS Systems and Governance Lead to establish a process for ongoing audits evaluations and continuous improvements benchmarking against similar organisations where feasible
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure a consistent approach to managing psychosocial hazards including occupational violence
  • In consultation with relevant stakeholders develop and implement a best-practice evidence-based training program for preventing and managing the risk of occupational violence
  • Provide advice to ensure occupational violence training programs remain up-to-date and aligned with Baptcares practices and deliver training as needed
  • Remain informed on current issues and practice that affect the management of psychosocial hazards and the effectiveness of WHS programs
  • Ensure all duties are performed in line with Baptcares Work Health and Safety Management System relevant legislation regulations and codes of practice
  • Contribute to a safe workplace by collaborating with staff on health and safety matters
  • Support safe patient care and a high-quality consumer experience through participation in continuous improvement activities

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related field
  • Extensive experience (3 years) implementing risk management strategies to address psychosocial hazards ideally in the healthcare sector
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Work Health and Safety legislation and risk management in complex multidisciplinary environments such as health services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to consult facilitate negotiate and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated project management experience with a track record of achieving measurable outcomes/deliverables
  • The role requires travel to sites across Victoria. Interstate travel may also be required to Tasmania and South Australia

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related field
  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology social work or a related discipline
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care sector
