Position SummaryUnder the supervision of a Building Administrator and with direction from one or more teachers the 1:1 Paraprofessional -SPED assists in achieving instructional objectives by working with individual students or small groups to promote their achievement and overall Paraprofessional is expected to assist the classrooms with maintaining a warm and nurturing relationship with each child supporting an environment that stimulates curiosity and celebrates diversity and participating in a dynamic student-centered curriculum that is grounded in hands-on exploration and play. Job DutiesProvide student with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the independent study enrichment work and remedial work in collaboration with the with the reasonable supervision of students during emergency drills assemblies play periods field trips and instructional with other student to students listen to students read and participate in other forms of oral communication with students in the library or media students with daily living and self-help with the student(s) IEP with maintaining an appropriate classroom notebooks supervise testing and make-up work relate to executive functioning an as-needed basis ride in school transportation with a student Support and demonstrate core values of Caledonia Central Supervisory UnionEngage in ongoing professional development relevant to promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for a clean neat appearance appropriate to a record of appropriate attendance and as an optimal role model for students colleagues and the general in close harmony with colleagues supervisors and with all District and School policies and regulations including but not limited to guidelines for other related duties as required/ school diploma or G.E.D. or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high credits in child development and/or willingness to complete the Fundamentals Course within the first year of completion of Online Mandated Reporter Training through the CDDThe completion of 9-hour online State Mandated Training: Vermont Orientation TrainingCPR & First Aid CertificationPreferred Qualifications At least 1 years of relevant experience preferredAssociate degree preferredKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledgeBasic curriculum expectationsBasic teaching strategiesBasic computer applicationsAbility to interpret special education IEPs and evaluation reports SkillsBasic reading and computation skills and appropriate oral and written expression; thorough knowledge of English grammar and under the direction of the Special Educator to whom cooperatively in a team environment to meet goalsOrganize and perform work independentlyWork on multiple projects while meeting all deadlinesShow sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of workPhysical RequirementsWork environment is in a mixed environment with moderate noise temperatures that are controlled and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
