Job Description
ThePhlebotomistperformsblood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
How You Will Get Things Done:
Useappropriate aseptictechnique to draw blood cultures
Recall patients for follow-up procedures or error correction as. Documents callbacks in the lab logbook
Monitor inventory levels and followappropriate protocolfor replenishing supplies in phlebotomy room and storage area
Prepare collection containers withappropriate preservativesfor patients and give instructions for proper collection of specimens at home
Properly collect a COC Urine Drug Screen and H. pylori Breath test
How You Will Build Trust:
Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety andfacilitatepatient cooperation
Demonstrate kindness and compassion in all patient interactions
How You Will Innovate:
Utilize LIS for all applicable functions to perform job duties including downtime procedures
Use the correct procedure for completing paperwork and labeling of specimen for OVH Blood Bank specimens
Process Stat specimens according to VillageMD policies
Delete or cancel orders as necessary with full documentation of reason. Ensure proper patient charge deletion according to departmental policy
Experience to Drive Change:
High School Graduate/GED. Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred.
0-1yearsofexperience2-4 years preferred
HeartSaveror Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing
Strong customer service interpersonal communication and team player skills
Ability to work with high degree of accuracy
Experience withLabdaqpreferred
Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone Fax Copy Machine Scanner Email/Voice Mail label printer) preferred
Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred
