- Reporting to the Chief Innovation & Technology Officer this position will be an integral part of the development and ongoing operation of the Information Technology Division within the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) by setting the strategic direction as well as influencing creating developing and implementing new information technology. This position is responsible for the Information Technology Branch Architecture & Solutions Branch as well as the Project & Portfolio Management Office. Responsibilities will include:
Provide focal leadership and strategic direction to all areas of the Information Technology Division ensuring that all employees pursue and attain organizational goals. - Develop the direction and vision for the Information Technology Division ensuring that it is consistent with the EPSs Mission Vision and Values.
- Explore new methods and developing initiatives around new information technologies and influencing the EPS and its partners in moving forward with these initiatives.
- Proactively engage with peers across the EPS to foster an enterprise vision and approach to information technology
- Lead managers and supervisors within the Division in understanding the organizations Mission Vision Annual Policing Plan and the required actions for success within the Division.
- Build relationships between EPS and stakeholder agencies for the purposes of information technology sharing.
- Provide the organization a strategic vision of how information technology is being utilized accurately and appropriately and enabling the EPS to be able to operationalize based on the results.
- Identify information technology product gaps and needs of the EPS and enable the EPS to develop and create processes systems and tools aimed at improvements.
- Develop an ongoing review of the organization as a whole to ensure that things are being done in accordance with information technology best practices.
- Lead organization in the change management that is required to adopt a new vision of technology changes and impacts.
- Provide direction to the management team of the Information Technology Division by supporting and communicating the EPSs philosophy mandate and mission.
- Develop and foster a culture which is conducive to the attainment of organizational goals.
- Monitor the ongoing operational activities of the Information Technology Division and its reporting Branches Sections and Units.
- Post-secondary Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or other related discipline. A masters degree would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of twelve (12) years of information management and/or intelligence leadership experience in a large employer environment. Experience in a policing environment would be an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Evidence success with organizational change management and project management.
- Demonstrates project management skills required to lead large organizational projects
- Demonstrates an ability to inspire and lead others to achieve organizational and Divisional goals.
- Brings a history of success in the implementation of organizational change and design.
- Models the value system of the organization and demonstrates a high proficiency of organizational competencies.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
- Implements effective people leadership skills including coaching and mentoring expertise building organizational talent and empowering resources to achieve personal and corporate outcomes.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers License. Must complete a City Drivers License application. Must also have access to own vehicle and provide written proof of current public liability and property damage insurance to a minimum of $1000000. EPS will reimburse mileage for any private vehicle usage during assigned duties. Client transportation is not required.
Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week Monday Friday.
Salary Range: 95M Salary Grade: BM2 $184229.48 - $230284.45 (Annually).
