Job Summary

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

We are seeking a Regulatory Advisor to join our Registration team working with international Allied Health practitioners applying for registration with Ahpra to allow them to work in Australia.

This is a full time opportunity to join our Ahpra team based in either our Melbourne Brisbane or Sydney office locations.

Reporting to the Senior Regulatory Advisor Registration you will lead and manage a registration team to deliver timely accurate and consistent regulatory decisions under the National Law and Board standards and guidelines. You will set clear direction coach and develop your team and actively manage workflow quality and performance so we deliver great outcomes for the public practitioners and partners.

With Ahpras recent move to a new operating platform we are looking for the successful candidate in this role to anticipate process bottlenecks resolve issues quickly and help the team to confidently navigate this role you will collaborate with subject matter experts and senior advisors to ensure advice and recommendations are consistent evidencebased and anchored in the Regulatory Principles for the National Scheme. Most of all you will rolemodel Ahpras values and commitment to safe care and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a registration team to meet service quality and timeliness targets in line with the National Law Board standards and Ahpra policies.
  • Coach mentor and build capability across the team monitor workflow and caseloads allocate work effectively and resolve operational issues and escalations.
  • Set clear KPIs recognise achievements and address performance gaps promptly and fairly.
  • Exercise delegated authorities appropriately and consistently; provide authoritative advice on legislation standards and guidelines.
  • Work with Senior Regulatory Advisors/Officers on complex matters and ensure highquality recommendations to Boards committees and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead a culture of respectful highquality service; resolve escalated customer concerns and support the team to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Identify process risks and blockers especially in the context of work flow then design practical solutions and guide the team through change.
