Brief Job Summary
The Product Owner works closely with the Product Manager to understand and deliver the strategic roadmap for the product. They will work with the development team and supporting roles to break that roadmap down into prioritised requirements. Working with support from the Product Manager they will ensure that the development team has a clear understanding of the product/platform vision and goals. They oversee product build progress answering queries and helping solve impediments to the delivery. The role is part of our squad structure and can be aligned to any product or platform in SS RS or Common Services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Product Manager with the creation and update of a centrally mastered Product Roadmap.
- Ensure the Product Roadmap is reflected correctly in our work management tooling (JIRA or ADO).
- Creation of features and user stories with support from other roles in the form of a healthy prioritised backlog.
- Definition of sprint goals to help focus the teams during their increment.
- Formal acceptance of work as done and ready for release.
- Support cross team dependency management.
- Input to both product and build reporting as required including financial reporting and budgeting.
- Use data to recommend to the Product Manager best solutions and approaches.
- Creation of technical user stories where required and ability to prioritise these.
- Plays an active role in agile and scaled agile events supporting agile values and helping promote the continual improvement cycle through inspect & adapt.
- Contribute to the product vision goals success measures and roadmap for the product.
- Applies some domain knowledge or demonstrates ability to quickly learn about the product(s) market and customer base.
- Understand what KPIs are most valuable to the business ensuring these are reflected in the product delivery.
- Support the Product Manager in Product Discovery through the elaboration of product features from the product roadmap ultimately reaching approval to build based on ROI.
- Work with the supporting roles and internal/external stakeholders to further refine approved product features through detailed requirements analysis/design to get work ready for planning & build documented through user stories.
- Ensure Non Functional Requirements are being created maintained and tested against.
- Work directly with Info Sec and or DPO on product change that need their approval to ensure the product is compliant
- Support the development teams in planning activities at both the quarter and increment level where applicable.
- Work with the development team and actively suggest improvements that can be made to how the team work in a collaborative way
- Assimilate complex detailed problems and translate them into easily digestible content for cross-functional team members.

- Ensure features & user stories remain aligned to the roadmap and strategic objectives set by the Product Manager.
