An Express Technician Supervisor manages the daily operations of a dealership or service centers quick-service lane (expess lane). This role involves leading a team of technicians to perform maintenance services - such as oil changes tire rotations and inspections - quickly safely and accurately. The supervisor is responsible for workflow quality control customer satisfaction and training staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage schedule and train express techncians to ensure high-quality service and productivity.
- Workflow Management: Coordinate the daily operations of the express lane to ensure vehicles are serviced within established time standards.
- Quality Control: Inspect work in progress upon completion to ensure proper safe repairs and to minimize comebacks.
- Customer Service: Address customer inquiries and concerns and interact with service advisors to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Technical Support: Diagnose complex issues and provide guidance on difficult repairs or maintenance.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety policies hazardous materials procedures and OSHA regulations.
- Inventory & Equipment Maintenance: Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies and ensure that all shop equipment is in proper working order.
- Documentation: Review repair orders for accuracy and completeness.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience as an automotive technician (often 3-5 years) and experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technicial Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive repair maintenance and diagnostics particularly with quick-service procedures.
- Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are often required or preferred.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to monitor train and motivate a team.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and commumcation skills to interact with customers and staff.
- Organizational Skills: Capable of handling a fast-paced enviroment and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- License: A valid drivers license.
