The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching learning creating and social development and fostering cutting-edge research and discovery. Deakins Western Victoria Regional Training Hub is one of 26 regional medical training hubs developed through the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program. The program is designed to support high-quality rural health training and address the gaps in the rural and remote health workforce. Through unique training opportunities medical graduates junior doctors and established medical professionals have the chance to contribute to the health and wellbeing of rural and regional communities.

As an Associate Professor Director Western Victoria Regional Training Hub you will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key education professional and health organizationssuch as hospitals government bodies medical colleges and regional training providersto promote and support sustainable specialty medical training at the local level.
  • Identify medical workforce needs in Western Victoria build training capacity in these regions and support medical students and junior doctors interested in rural practice through career planning professional development and mentoring.
  • Provide an influential voice of advocacy to government and the health sector to secure financial investment in post-accreditation training and ongoing professional development for medical practitioners
  • Contribute to specialty medical training by helping health services with accreditation of new posts and supporting local professionals in becoming postgraduate supervisors
  • Further developing the strategy of the Western Victoria RTH and overseeing both its implementation and the work of its staff towards that strategic intent

To be successful youll have:

  • Advanced qualifications and/or recognised significant clinical experience and medical leadership with specialist medical college accreditation in the relevant discipline area
  • Demonstrated academic excellence which may be evidenced by an outstanding contribution to the profession
  • High-level interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish positive working relationships with colleagues students and stakeholders to develop and maintain strong professional links with relevant industry government and the community
  • Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills with experience engaging colleagues and stakeholders in identifying processes and systems requiring change and implementing solutions
  • Demonstrated commitment to the improvement of access to training opportunities and improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
