The South Dakota Office of the Attorney General and Divison of Criminal Investigation is looking for the right individual to serve as the Call Center Representative for the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) program. This program was implemented in 2015. The purpose of this program was to centralize and automate the victim notifications process for the Courts Corrections and a majority of the local jails in South Dakota through a SAVIN application and web portal. This application has the capabilities of offering minimal information through the web as well as notifications through Phone Text Messaging Email and Postal Mail.
This position will work very closely with the SAVIN program coordinator in learning and supporting the SAVIN program. The normal schedule for this position will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The person selected for this position will serve victims and other SAVIN customers of this program by:
- Monitoring and addressing tasks in the SAVIN application queues.
- Contacting Victims regarding high priority notifications.
- Monitoring the SAVIN Email inbox daily and respond accordingly.
- Managing the incoming and outgoing SAVIN mail.
- Answering inbound phone calls and emails regarding:
- Questions regarding offender and notification information.
- Assisting victim and interested party registrations.
- Resetting passwords.
- Updating victim and interested party contact information.
- General SAVIN program inquiries.
As well as other SAVIN program duties that may arise as needed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Minimum of an Associates Degree at least 1 year of customer service and some experience working with or in a legal or law enforcement field.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- proficient oral and written communication;
- working with victims;
- working with Law enforcement;
- basic computer skills.
Skill to:
- train others;
- provide Oral and Written communication on behalf of the program;
- answer incoming calls;
- operate Microsoft Office Products;
- handle data and process management;
- create and maintain documentation.
Ability to:
- show empathy common courtesy patience and respect to all callers;
- pay attention to detail;
- establish effective working relationships.
This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.
This position is eligible for Veterans Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
