OurNorthern Corridors Stouffville Line (Capital Project Delivery)Office ishiring a Project Manager to manage the design and construction of assigned transit infrastructure projects in a safe timely consistent and cost-effective manner.
The Finch Avenue East Underpass Project is a road-under-rail grade separation project located at Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Road on the Uxbridge subdivision of the Stouffvillecorridor which may include but is not limited to utility relocations; stormwater/groundwater; sidewalks; parking lots; realignment of railway tracks or other project or project work as assigned.
What Will I Be Doing
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary stakeholders complex government systems looking after bridges and structures civil works including utilities and railway systems
- Apply commercial acumen by administering contracts; negotiating with contractors; managing cost and change control
- Make decisions and influence / supervise others in a complex rail environment
- Manage multiple complex schemes from planning stages to commissioning and closeout consistent with corporate commitments (budget schedule quality risk etc.).
- Manage all aspects of project scope of work; initiate prepare and present agreements that govern the engagement of consultants suppliers and contractors for execution.
- Knowledge of procurement processes particularly Construction Manager at Risk would be an asset to identify opportunities for improvements and cost savings and budget management skills to plan and monitor departmental budgets.
- Identify the need for concept preliminary or detail design alternatives or value engineering opportunities.
- Estimate project engineering construction and contingency costs and forecasts timeframes for project implementation and funding expenditures including monitoring and project reporting using advanced financial/project management software.
- Review and evaluate consultant studies reports design proposals specifications and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies procedures and standards and any other applicable industry guidelines or practices.
- Manage projects involving effective coordination and liaison with many internal and external stakeholders including other areas of the Capital Projects Group and other Metrolinx departments municipal partners and Railways.
- Supervise staff engaged in all aspects of the project management cycle.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering; Structural Engineering; or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
- Demonstrates experience in project management preferably within the public sector
- Demonstrates experience in managing projects involving planning design construction and commissioning of transit facilities heavy Railway infrastructure bridges structures and related works.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience to manage multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule budget and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated experience and application of supervisory principles and practices to supervise staff.
- Project management experience to manage assigned projects and supervise staff engaged in all stages of project management from start to close-out
- Knowledge of transportation industry is an asset
- Organizational interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites and coordinate complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Professional Engineer () are an asset
- Knowledge of contract law the Occupational Health & Safety Act and construction standards and procedures applicable to operating Railway environment.
- Proficiency is software such as MS Word Excel Visio Primavera P6
- Project specific requirement for visits to construction sites (CPG) during working hours and visits during evenings weekends and/or holidays as required.
- A valid Ontario G Drivers License is required for regular site visits.
- This position requires the successful candidate to be present at various designated onsite locations as assigned by their leader for a minimum of three (3) days each week. Additionally as an operational business continuity functional specialist the candidate should be prepared to make regular visits during evenings weekends and holidays as necessary.
