KWM Explore 2026 – Internship opportunity delivered in partnership with The Smith Family

This 30-day paid internship is designed for students new to the workforce offering flexible work experience relevant to your studies and the chance to develop key skills for your future career.

At King & Wood Mallesons weve got talented people working together to help achieve our business goals. They work in a range of roles including in marketing and communications human resources legal and business research technology finance hospitality and operations.

Some highlights of the program include:

• 30 days of paid work placement from May 2026 to October 2026
• Placement with a business support team relevant to your studies and interests
• Continued support and on the job learning
• Networking with a wide variety of professionals from KWM and our clients
• Industry specific skills-based workshops
• Mentoring
• Career support and guidance

Throughout your internship well work closely with you to ensure youre learning supported and growing with the support of a KWM supervisor (to help with work tasks) a mentor (to help you grow as a professional) and a buddy (to make sure you are well supported).

Who Were Looking For

To participate in KWM Explore you need to be:

• A participant in The Smith Familys Learning for Life Tertiary Scholarship or Tertiary Together programs. This is a mandatory requirement for KWM Explore;
• Undertaking tertiary study aligned to one of our business support teams - You can find more information on these teams here;
• Able to travel into our offices in Sydney Melbourne Brisbane Canberra or Perth for your internship; and
• Enthusiastic and have a strong desire to learn and grow.

Applied What happens next

• Applications open 27 January 2026 and close 11.59pm on 15 February 2026.
• Applications will be reviewed by King & Wood Mallesons and an update will be provided by 6 March 2026.
• Candidates progressing to interview stage will be contacted by King & Wood Mallesons and invited for an interview.
• Interviews will be conducted in February and March 2026 at a King & Wood Mallesons office.
• Candidates will be interviewed by a member of King & Wood Mallesons People & Development can be accompanied to the interview by a representative from The Smith Family.
• All interviewed candidates will be contacted by King & Wood Mallesons by 24 April 2026 and advised whether they have been accepted into the program.
• The program commences 18 May with a mandatory induction for all interns on 18 and 19 May (9am - 5pm).
