Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise/monitor the operation of the Emergency Action Center/VIC Center.

  • Responsible for personnel and their compliance with rules regulations and procedures.

  • Coordinates communication functions with SCDC SLED other law enforcement agencies and other state agencies during emergencies.

  • Serves as central communications center for non-emergency functions.

  • Supervises evaluates performance recommends or takes appropriate action on all personnel matters.

  • Operates and monitors all communications equipment.

  • Provides information and support to field personnel SLED other law enforcement agencies and other state agencies and emergency services.

  • Responds to requests for assistance.

  • Develops work schedules ensuring 24 hours/7 days per week coverage.

  • Directs proper operational procedures and training of employees.

  • Ensures required logs reports and records are maintained on communications information from law enforcement agencies incidents accidents etc.

  • Acts as NCIC/CIIS terminal agency coordinator.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.


SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and eight (8) years experience in correctional security military or police work to include four (4) years of supervisory experience.

  • A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (Associate and above 2 years) (Bachelors and above 4 years).

  • Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course withinsix (6) months of entry into the position.

  • Must be certified to operate the NCIC SLED/CJIS computer system and other necessary equipment withinsix (6) months of entry into the position.
