Plumber

Performs installation repair assembly and maintenance of plant plumbing as well as installation of compressed air chemical industrial waste fluids steam systems and accessory installations.

This is a fulltime job position working 40 hours a week (4/10s). There is no per diem and no relocation funding.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • MUST have a South Carolina state Plumber License
  • Conducts corrective maintenance to resolve issues and preventive maintenance inspections
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks commodes water heaters hot water tanks garbage disposal units dishwashers and water softeners
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets mending burst pipe and opening clogged drains
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work required and sequence of installations
  • Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using ruler spirit level and plumb bob
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools
  • Cuts and threads pipe using pipe cutters cutting torch and pipe-threading machine
  • Assembles and installs valves pipe fitting and pipes composed of metals such as iron steel brass and lead and nonmetals such as glass vitrified clay and plastic using hand tools and power tools
  • Joins pipes by use of screws bolts fittings solder plastic solvent and caulks joints
  • Fills pipe system with water or air to read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking
  • Reading blueprints to determine size position and amount of material required
  • Cutting threading and installing pipe using hand tools and power tools
  • Installing pipe in walls ceilings and floors
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear chemical protective clothing supplied air and air purifying respirators safety harness sand blast hoods fire resistant coveralls hard hat ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body able to reach overhead able to work in various positions including but not limited to stooping standing bending over sitting kneeling squatting; use hands to handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
  • Assist with other facility maintenance as required

Qualifications Required for this Position:

Education: no minimum education requirements.

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in an industrial setting preferred.

Must pass pre-employment physical drug screening and background check as a condition of employment.
