A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Walton Liverpool is currently seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and who understands the importance of consistency patience and strong relationships in helping pupils succeed.
You will be working closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) ADHD SEMH needs speech and language difficulties sensory processing needs and moderate learning difficulties. Support will be provided on both a 1:1 basis and through small group interventions ensuring that pupils can access learning in a way that is tailored to their individual needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils academic progress emotional regulation and social development working collaboratively with class teachers the SENCO and external professionals.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Walton your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
Supporting small group interventions in literacy numeracy communication and emotional regulation
Assisting pupils to access the curriculum alongside their peers
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs IEPs and behaviour support plans
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation sensory needs and social interaction
Encouraging positive behaviour independence and confidence
Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt support strategies
Supporting pupils during transitions playtimes and lunchtimes
Using visual supports sensory resources and differentiated materials
Monitoring progress and recording observations
Supporting personal care when required (training provided if needed)
Maintaining a calm safe and inclusive learning environment
Upholding safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will:
Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
Demonstrate patience empathy and emotional resilience
Have a good understanding of Autism ADHD SEMH and communication needs
Be confident in supporting behaviour using positive strategies
Be flexible proactive and reliable
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
Be available for an ASAP start
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Experience with EHCPs sensory integration strategies or speech and language interventions is desirable but not essential as training and support will be provided.
