A progressive and inclusive primary school in Wavertree Liverpool is seeking a highly committed patient and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning develop emotional regulation and build confidence within the school environment.
You will be supporting children with a range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) ADHD SEMH needs speech and language difficulties sensory processing challenges and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis within small group interventions or through in-class support depending on the needs outlined in pupils EHCPs and individual support plans.
This position is ideal for someone who understands the importance of consistency structure and nurturing relationships in supporting children with SEN. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning manage emotions and develop essential social and communication skills.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Wavertree your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with additional needs
Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy numeracy communication and emotional regulation
Assisting pupils to access the curriculum alongside their peers
Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs IEPs and behaviour support plans
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation sensory needs and social interaction
Encouraging positive behaviour independence and self-confidence
Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt support strategies
Supporting pupils during transitions playtimes and lunchtimes
Using visual supports sensory resources and differentiated learning materials
Monitoring progress and recording observations
Providing feedback to teachers and contributing to review meetings
Supporting personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
Maintaining a calm structured and inclusive learning environment
Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:
Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school nursery or care setting
Demonstrates patience empathy and emotional resilience
Has a strong understanding of Autism ADHD SEMH and communication needs
Is confident supporting behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
Is flexible proactive and reliable
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
Is available for an ASAP start
Is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Experience with EHCPs sensory integration strategies speech and language interventions or emotional regulation programmes is highly desirable but not essential.
