Role Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant your role will involve:

• Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis

• Assisting children with ASD SEMH and behavioural challenges

• Helping pupils access the curriculum through differentiated support

• Supporting emotional regulation and social development

• Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policy

• Working collaboratively with teachers SENCOs and support staff

• Supporting learning during lessons interventions and unstructured times

• Monitoring and recording pupil progress

• Promoting independence and positive self-esteem

• Assisting with personal care where required

• Maintaining safeguarding standards at all times

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with SEN children or vulnerable individuals

• A calm patient and resilient personality

• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A genuine interest in child development and SEN education

• A flexible and proactive approach

Previous experience in schools SEN provisions care settings or youth work is highly desirable though not essential for the right candidate.
