University Settlement partners with 40000 New Yorkers on the Lower East Side and in Brooklyn every year tobuild ontheir strengths as they achieve healthy stable and remarkable lives. Established in 1886 as the first Settlement House in the United States we bring the values of that movement into the 21st century by meeting New Yorkers where they live listening deeply to all perspectives engaging with every individual holistically and creating space for people to togetherwith our neighbors to advocate for justice and equality we help build community strength.

We work with New Yorkers of all ages. We infuse a commitment to civic engagement equity and communal action into each of our programs which include early childhood education mental health and wellness benefitsassistanceand eviction prevention adult literacy and education healthy agingcommunityand recreation centers performing and visual arts and youth development.

Responsibilities:

  • Placements are available across all divisions at University Settlement in Mental Health Early Childhood Youth andAdultprogramming

  • Program responsibilities andspecificjob duties to bedeterminedby program director:To learn more about variouspracticumopportunities email

  • Become fully knowledgeable of the mental healthand supportiveresources inprogramcatchmentarea

  • Complete all required data collection and documentation according toprogramrequirements

  • Complete all required process recordings reflections trainings and according to degree and supervision requirements

  • Other duties as assigned bySIFI and Task Supervisors

Qualifications:

  • Current student pursuing aMasters Degree in Social Work(MSW)andseeking practicum placement

  • Firm understanding of racial inequity strength-based and family-driven work child and youth development attachment trauma responsive care and family dynamics

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team player

  • Bilingual skills a plus

Hours:14-21hoursperweek-dependent onMSWprogram requirements
