The Team

The Payroll team within the the Southern Europe plays a key role in delivering a reliable compliant and seamless payroll experience across Europe. The team focuses on standardizing payroll processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness and driving continuous improvement through automation and scalable solutions. Working in close partnership with HR Finance and external providers the team supports business growth by ensuring payroll excellence regulatory compliance and a high-quality associate experience across the region.

The Position

As a Senior Payroll Specialist within the Southern Europe Payroll Team you will play a key role in managing payroll operations for the region. You will be part of an international team of payroll professionals dedicated to ensuring the accuracy compliance and timeliness of payroll processing.

Your mission will be to optimize payroll processes strengthen internal controls and contribute to transformation and harmonization initiatives across the EMEA region. You will also be responsible for regulatory compliance vendor management and enhancing the employee payroll experience.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager you will support day-to-day payroll operations while contributing to the strategic development of the payroll function within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable Payroll operations for Italy implementing standard processes and tools to drive consistency.
  • Support vendor management and implementation of relevant tools across the region ensuring scalable consistent service delivery and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Enable accurate and timely month-end close including pay benefits stock compensation and payroll taxes ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Stays up to date with payroll regulations and tax laws across the EMEA region ensuring full compliance and the timely integration of new legal requirements into payroll processes
  • Ensure accurate wage tax filings and financial reconciliations maintaining compliance with GL postings and accruals.
  • Support local auditors ensuring readiness and compliance with internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Associate Lifecycle Finance Controlling Department Head and HR teams to resolve complex payroll issues and support local HR projects.
  • Provide payroll data and feedback to inform business decisions and improve operational efficiency through conducting root cause analysis of recurring errors.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records for audits and ensure compliance with legal and financial requirements.

The role will be based in our Paris office.

Measures of Success

  • Payroll Processing: Timely and accurate payroll processing across Italy. Target: 100% payroll accuracy with zero unresolved discrepancies per pay period
  • Payroll Compliance: Full compliance with regional and local payroll tax and labor regulations for France with no penalties.
  • Customer satisfaction: Increase in employee satisfaction regarding the accuracy transparency and punctuality of payroll accounting.
  • Risk and Controls: Effective risk management and robust payroll data security controls.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a proven payroll expert driving compliance and delivering high-quality payroll services at scale. You bring both strategic thinking and hands-on expertise with a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement. The preferred candidate will have demonstrable experience in the following:

  • Advanced Payroll and Tax Expertise: Deep knowledge of international tax law social security legislation and regional payroll regulations.
  • System & Process Optimization: Proven experience implementing and maintaining payroll systems and infrastructure.
  • Process & Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of payroll controls compliance frameworks and financial reconciliation
  • Project & Change Management: Experience managing complex projects including cross-functional initiatives and process transformations.
  • Problem-Solving & Analysis: Ability to resolve complex issues using data and insights with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Confidentiality & Integrity: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with absolute discretion.
  • Education: Degree in HR Management Tax Law Business Administration or a related field with focus areas in personnel planning controlling and labor regulations.
  • Languages: Fluent in Italian and English (spoken and written).
