The Parkland School Division currently has an interim Full-Time 1.0 Teaching position at Ecole Meridian Heights School in Stony Plain Alberta. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Position Overview:

Parkland School Division is seeking a dedicated and compassionate educator to join our specialized team supporting a student with complex learning needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. This role involves delivering an individualized program in a highly collaborative environment working alongside another staff member to provide consistent responsive support. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of targeted learning strategies that promote safety engagement and meaningful learning experiences. When not directly programming for this student the educator will work collaboratively with the Early Years team to support targeted literacy and numeracy programming.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement an individualized educational plan that aligns with the students unique learning and behavioral needs.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including educational assistant Complex Needs Facilitator (behavioural specialist) Student Services staff and parents to support student success.

• Employ a range of instructional techniques to support student engagement communication and skill development.

• Provide proactive behavioral support and utilize strategies to help manage transitions self-regulation and social interactions.

• Monitor assess and document student progress adjusting instructional approaches as necessary to ensure continued growth and development.

• Plan and implement literacy and numeracy programming to early years students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Education with a focus on Special Education or a related field.

• Professional teaching certification in Alberta.

• Proven experience working with students on the autism spectrum with a strong understanding of autism-specific strategies and supports.

• Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and social-emotional learning practices.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with assistive technology and other adaptive tools for learning.

• Professional development or certifications in autism spectrum disorder or related behavioral support methods.

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
