Job Description

The Human Resources (HR) Business Partner reports to the Department of Human Resources and provides comprehensive support to employees and leaders across the University of WisconsinMilwaukee (UWM). This role serves as the primary HR liaison for assigned client groups offering consultation on a wide range of human resources matters. The HR Business Partner collaborates with departmental leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.

The HR Business Partner serves as the main point of contact for client groups on topics related to HR policies procedures employment law and best practices across all core HR functions.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves as a consultative Human Resources resource and liaison. Interprets advises on applies anddisseminatescomplex policies procedures and options to leadership and employees; and recommends best strategies according to establishedobjectivesand goals

Additional Information:

  • This position doesnotoffer visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
  • Hybrid work arrangements may be available. Primary work will be conducted on the UW-Milwaukee campus with remote work requests considered after theinitialtraining period. Details will be discussed during the interview process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least two years of professional experience in one or more human resources disciplines
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business or a related field OR equivalent professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as an HR Business Partner or in a similar advisory role within a higher education institution or other complex organization
  • Proven ability to work independently while advising and supporting leadership on a broad range of HR matters
  • Demonstrated experience across multiple human resources disciplines (e.g.recruitment employee relations training)
  • Experience analyzing interpreting and/or reporting data to support workforce strategy and planning
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience applying employment laws regulations policies and guidelines (e.g. FMLA FLSA compensation practices)
  • Coursework in Human Resources Management and/or current HR certification (e.g. SHRM-CP SHRM-SCP PHR SPHR)
  • Effective problem-solving experience in employee relations matters

Target SalaryRange

  • $68000 to$72000(Final salary offer will bedeterminedbased on knowledge skills and experience)
