About the position

The Medical Materiel Specialist (MMS) is responsible for all warehouse support service activities supporting the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Commands (NMRLC) Expeditionary Medical System (EXMED) mission. Duties of the MMS include receiving shipping storing (stowing) selecting (picking) supply turn-in (disposal) packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment. The MMS will utilize the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) database or Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) database or other DoD authorized systems to accurately account for and process the Table of Allowances (TOA) which are sometimes also referred to as Authorized Medical Allowance Lists (AMALs) or Authorized Dental Allowance Lists (ADALs) which comprise EXMEDS. The position requires a detail-oriented and highly proficient individual that can adhere to published standards and guidance directed in local Standard Operating Procedures Navy guidelines and Department of Defense publications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be proficient in the use of the DMLSS HIMS or other authorized database of record for routine processes.
  • Provide warehouse support pertaining to warehouse logistics. The duties will include receiving shipping storing (stowing) selecting (picking) supply turn-in (disposal) packing (kitting and stuffing) or unpacking (downloading) and inventory of general or specialized material and equipment.
  • Performs inventory and documentation of supply stock utilizing DMLSS or other military database of record. Make adjustments to stock levels as directed and support excess or unserviceable material disposal processes.
  • Review stock and re-supply medical logistics items. This will include removing and replacing all outdated or expired items from shelves or kitted EXMEDS.
  • Perform quality control on transaction records and file documents appropriately and promptly.
  • Research quality assurance messages utilizing DMLSS or other military database of record
  • Review a wide variety of documents to ensure that the proper information has been included. Obtain missing information from supporting documents supervisor or specialist/analyst and resolve inconsistencies or discrepancies deviations from general rules or major omissions.
  • Performs receiving duties to include but not limited to receiving unloading and processing incoming shipments. Checks accompanying documentation against containers or packing labels. Follows established procedures in reporting over short or damaged items. Opens container and removes dunnage and other packing materials. Segregates material according to material type (i.e. equipment consumable narcotic pilferable item HAZMAT etc.). Based on information in automated system it generates labels and routes and/or moves material to staging areas or stow locations.
  • Performs inventory control work supporting a broad range of duties required to accomplish the mission of a large production sustainment and distribution center. Duties will include counting types quantities and condition of items during annual inventories location surveys physical inventory material handling material examining and identifying packing operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and analyzing evaluating and revising command inventory.
  • Performs platform stowing of material. The Government will provide equipment and material to be assigned to each EXMED platform. Material will be stowed by assigned EXMED platform in adjacent locations to facilitate rapid deployment.
  • Performs Pick Pack Preserve and Crate (PPP&C). Packs and repacks a variety of items for kitting and shipping of EXMEDS utilizing a wide variety of standard packing materials methods and techniques.
  • Performs administrative and duties such as word processing; receipt and completeness of data; correcting errors modifying as required and transmission of electronic mail; storing retrieving and maintaining electronic documents or files; entering data into a predefined spreadsheet or database.
  • Must be adept at general warehouse maintenance activities (warehouse cleanliness and aesthetics). Employees are responsible for their assigned sections/areas of the warehouse.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Specialized experience shall include general supply activities ordering receiving customer support inventory management assemblage management warehousing and operation of various materials handling equipment.
  • Candidate must be able to maintain certification in the daily operation of various warehouse equipment; to include forklifts side lifts cherry pickers etc.
  • Candidate must be comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment during the duty day (steel toe shoes hard hat hearing protection etc.)
  • Candidate must have experience in using and running transactions in the DMLSS or other Medical Materiel Information System(s).
  • Candidate must be able to work in an austere work environment.
  • Requirements include walking standing reaching bending and moving items.
  • Candidate is required to lift and carry weights over 40 pounds.

Physical and Special Requirements

  • Ability to work at an accelerated pace under emergencies or operational demands.
  • Candidate must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes glasses gloves and hard hats.
  • Requirements include walking standing reaching bending and moving items.
  • Required to lift and carry weight over 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in an Austere environment.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum3 years of experiencein logistics or medical warehouse operations.
  • Must possess and current valid drivers license.
  • Must be able to understand read and write in the English language
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
