Description of Work
This position functions as a Transportation Worker IV in addition to work performed at all prior levels. This position will serve as crew leader. This work is related to the preservation maintenance repair and construction of State-owned fixed and moveable bridges culverts and pipes 54 inches and larger within Division 2. This position is technical in nature and labor intensive. Employee will be required to work in diverse working environments in all types of weather conditions in and around heavy equipment use power tools and must be able to safely exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. This position requires working in a close environment or independently as needed. Employee will be expected to perform assigned tasks and follow oral and written instructions as directed by the supervisor. When inclement weather occurs this position will be called upon to work nights and/or weekends to help in the snow and ice removal process.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade: NC08 / Recruitment Range: $37782.00 to $66120.00.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development diploma and six years of experience operating equipment directly related to the area of specialization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Either possession of a current Commercial Drivers License on the date of hire OR the North Carolina Commercial Drivers License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire.
