Founded in 2011 Amp Americas builds owns and operates Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production facilities that convert dairy waste into carbon-negative natural gas renewable transportation fuel and power. Amp is a top 3 producer in the industry and has eight facilities across five states that generate more than 1.7 Bcf of carbon-negative RNG per year with another 0.7 Bcf/year under construction. The vertically integrated company leverages over a decade of unique expertise and specialized experience in renewable fuel production operations and marketing to deliver comprehensive turn-key solutions that address greenhouse gas emissions and seek to improve air land and water quality

Position Summary

The Regulatory and Commercial Operations Analyst will be an integral part of Amps regulatory and commercial operations functions supporting Amps business development and marketing business units which includes regulatory and compliance tasks. The job will focus on quantitative analysis supporting portfolio management facility registration and ongoing compliance requirements new market entry and customer cultivation. The ideal candidate will have commercial acumen analytical rigor and extreme attention to detail. The role will report to the Head of Environmental Credit Compliance and will also have responsibilities supporting the Commercial Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance/Analysis

  • Perform carbon intensity modeling for various renewable fuel pathways and provide actionable insights to business development team for deal pricing
  • Prepare and deliver monthly quarterly and annual compliance documents for various governmental entities and regulators
  • Assist third party consultants auditors and verifiers to ensure timely execution on new asset registration and existing pathway maintenance
  • Assist team with new project registration with various governmental entities (EPA CARB new markets etc.)
  • Conduct routine audits to identify changes in operations that may affect environmental credit generation. Flag risks to management and provide investigational support
  • Responsible for market research and communicating updates to key programs including the Renewable Fuel Standard and the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard as well as new market opportunities
  • Maintain supply/demand modeling for outlook on various markets
  • Maintain SOPs and revise as necessary to comply with federal state and local requirements. Develop and initiate communications to ensure revisions are implemented

Commercial Operations/Business Development

  • Maintain environmental credit (EC) accounts position reports and supply/demand forecasts for both current and new business pipeline
  • Manage EC delivery to counterparties product transfer documentation and audits
  • Assist with contract compliance trade execution and all supporting documentation
  • Support portfolio risk management decision making including hedging and contract structuring
  • Review and analyze commercial terms in contracts providing commercial input to maximize commercial value and minimize risks for Amp
  • Perform analysis and advise on expansion greenfield and M&A opportunities

Required Skills / Abilities / Qualifications

  • Bachelors or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline from a competitive university
  • 2-5 years experience on a commodity marketing desk or in a quantitative or operational regulatory function in commodities; front or mid-office commodities experience including reading contracts assisting in compliance reporting and executing trade operations preferred
  • RNG or environmental commodities experience preferred but not required
  • Commodities markets research experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills required; other programming skills would be helpful
  • Aptitude for solving problems independently and an interest in alternative and renewable energy
