We are seeking a highly experienced Epic Access Advisory Consultant to support a health system through strategic access transformation initiatives. This engagement is purely advisory in nature and focused on enterprise architecture system design and governance rather than hands-on Epic build or configuration.
The consultant will serve as a trusted advisor to executive operational and IT leadership helping architect scalable future-state solutions across Cadence Referrals Access workflows and Decision Trees that align with organizational strategy growth objectives and patient access goals.
This role is ideal for a senior Epic consultant who has previously designed access models for complex health systems understands upstream and downstream impacts of access decisions and can translate business objectives into sustainable Epic architectures.
Lead future-state architecture design for Epic Access domains including:
Cadence scheduling models
Referral intake and management workflows
Access and patient navigation strategies
Decision Tree frameworks for call centers and digital access
Define enterprise access standards design principles and governance models.
Evaluate existing Epic configurations and workflows identifying gaps risks and optimization opportunities.
Design scalable access models to support:
Multi-specialty environments
Centralized and decentralized scheduling
Growth expansion and digital front door initiatives
Act as a strategic advisor to executive sponsors access leadership operational leaders and IT stakeholders.
Facilitate design sessions working groups and executive-level discussions to align strategy and system design.
Translate complex Epic capabilities into clear actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
Provide guidance on best practices industry trends and Epic-recommended patterns.
Architect decision tree strategies that support:
Call center efficiency
Consistent patient experiences
Accurate routing and scheduling outcomes
Define standards for decision tree maintenance governance and long-term sustainability.
Ensure alignment between decision trees scheduling logic and referral workflows.
Produce high-quality deliverables including:
Current-state and future-state architecture diagrams
Design principles and standards documentation
Strategic roadmaps and phased implementation recommendations
Partner with internal build teams or system integrators by providing clear architectural direction guardrails and design intent.
Epic Cadence Certification (required)
Epic Referrals or Decision Trees Certification (strongly preferred)
This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact system-wide access strategy without hands-on build responsibilities. The consultant will play a pivotal role in shaping how patients access care how access teams operate and how Epic supports long-term organizational goalswhile remaining fully remote.
Extensive experience as an Epic Cadence / Access / Referrals consultant in large or complex health systems.
Proven background in architecture system design and strategic advisory roles (not just build).
Deep understanding of:
Epic Cadence scheduling frameworks
Referral workflows and intake models
Access center operations
Epic Decision Trees and their role in access strategy
Demonstrated ability to design enterprise-level scalable Epic solutions.
Strong executive presence with the ability to advise senior leadership.
Excellent facilitation communication and documentation skills.
Experience guiding organizations through access transformation or optimization initiatives.
Prior experience serving as an Epic Access Architect Principal Consultant or Strategic Advisor.
Background supporting health systems during:
Enterprise standardization efforts
Growth or consolidation initiatives
Digital front door or access modernization programs
Experience collaborating with third-party system integrators or internal Epic build teams.
