Pay Rate: $39$53/hour (based on local or travel contract)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for an assignment in Syracuse NY. This position is based in a Behavioral Health Unit and is ideal for a dedicated nurse who is passionate about delivering quality patient care in an acute or behavioral healthcare setting. The assignment is for 13 weeks with strong potential for extension based on performance and facility needs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of patient care functions in an acute care or behavioral health setting with minimal supervision
Greet patients direct them to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations
Assist during exams including setting up trays measuring and recording patient progress and taking vital signs
Provide support with general office duties such as reception appointment scheduling filing and chart preparation
Coordinate with insurance companies to obtain authorizations for procedures (e.g. physical therapy imaging surgery)
Contact primary care providers to obtain or extend patient referrals
Assist physicians and nursing staff in delivering patient care
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas
Administer injections and assist with procedures such as Pap smears and other treatments
Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for documentation (experience strongly preferred)
Implement nursing care activities under the direction of a registered nurse in accordance with care plans
Observe document and report patient responses to treatments
Participate in unit-based activities and support overall nursing unit operations
