The Life Enrichment Coordinator designs programs to meet the wellness needs of residents through the communitys dimensions of wellness (intellectual emotional mental spiritual physical social environmental financial and vocational). This includes a well-balanced variety of programs and events to enrich the lives of residents. To provide leadership and support to staff volunteers and students involved in program planning and implementation. This position is Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm including some evening coverage to for programs (12:00pm to 8:30pm). The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for assurance that proper documentation records are maintained in accordance with current Federal and State regulations (HFS 132) .

- Oversees all programs events and outings including coordinating and conducting scheduled programs both on and off campus. - Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal regulations (HFS 132).
- Maintains Life Enrichment documentation individual assessment requirements including MDS (Material Data Set) CAAs (care area assessments) Life Enrichment Assessments progress notes and care plans on individual residents that are completed timely in accordance with regulations.
- Must be present at the time of state and federal surveys and inspections and respond to any Life Enrichment concerns appropriately providing pertinent data and assisting with potential plan of correction.
- Monitors therapeutic programming their implementation and effectiveness to ensure program quality resident/family satisfaction and reports on quality assurance in quarterly/monthly quality assurance meetings.
- Communicates with Volunteer Services Coordinator any resident volunteer requests/needs. Provides orientation training monitoring and supervision to volunteers engaged in program planning and implementation. Is the main contact resource support and model for volunteers.
- Completes needed training and coordinates with City Clerks Office to facilitate residentvoting process.
- Orchestrates appropriate use of funds and resources directed for the IL to ensureassurance adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Supervises volunteers and communicates needs with Oakwood Departments and contracted service providers as needed. Ensures compliance with sanitary regulations/requirements.
- Provides for personal development through attendance at workshops and seminars and takes advantage of formalized instruction and training.
- Coordinates and communicates with other Life Enrichment staff to plan and implement programs and special events.
- Responsible for other similar duties as needed or as delegated by Life Enrichment Manager.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS of a Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Recognizes and understands a persons need for leisure/programs of varied nature based on health condition functioning level and individual interest.
- Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in skills/principles/techniques for programming all types of groups for individuals.
- Consistently works within established policies and procedures.
- Stays current and maintains state and federal regulations.
- Establishes and maintains favorable community relations.
- Handles confidential information.
- Relates well to the elderly; understanding the different stages of aging and age related changes.
- Demonstrates the ability to work in a collaborative environment which fosters effective teamwork in order to meet the mission of Oakwood.
- Transports residents safely with assistive devices or wheelchair.
- Willingness to work flexible hours which include evenings holidays and weekends as scheduled.
EXPERIENCE EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING of a Life Enrichment Coordinator
- Degree in Recreational Therapy Occupational Therapy OTR Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or Activity Professional by a recognized accrediting body or related field is preferred
- Three years of experience working with and knowledge of activities with older adults with special needs and/or persons with dementia/memory impairments. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and comfortable working audio/video equipment.
- Valid drivers license and CDL are preferred but not required.
