Job Summary:

The Industrial Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment. This role involves working with high-voltage systems motor controls power distribution and industrial automation while ensuring all work is performed in compliance with national and local electrical codes and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install maintain and repair electrical systems wiring fixtures and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in motors control panels PLCs and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics blueprints wiring diagrams and manufacturer manuals.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components.
  • Inspect electrical systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects or the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Install conduit cable trays and raceways in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers maintenance staff and other trades to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Comply with all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Listen follow directions and complete assigned work


Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (State-issued).
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training in electrical systems preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Strong understanding of 3-phase systems transformers switchgear and industrial control systems.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools power tools and electrical testing equipment (e.g. multimeters megohmmeters).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints and technical documents.
  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and industrial automation systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E standards and arc flash safety.
  • Knowledge of motor controls VFDs and relay logic.
  • Welding or fabrication skills are a plus but not required.
  • Previous work in a manufacturing refinery or heavy industrial environment.
