Job Summary:
The Industrial Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment in an industrial environment. This role involves working with high-voltage systems motor controls power distribution and industrial automation while ensuring all work is performed in compliance with national and local electrical codes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and repair electrical systems wiring fixtures and industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues in motors control panels PLCs and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Interpret and work from electrical schematics blueprints wiring diagrams and manufacturer manuals.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and components.
- Inspect electrical systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects or the need for adjustment or repair.
- Install conduit cable trays and raceways in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Collaborate with engineers maintenance staff and other trades to ensure optimal system performance.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
- Comply with all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Listen follow directions and complete assigned work
Qualifications- Valid Journeyman Electrician License (State-issued).
- High school diploma or GED; technical training in electrical systems preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of industrial electrical experience.
- Strong understanding of 3-phase systems transformers switchgear and industrial control systems.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools power tools and electrical testing equipment (e.g. multimeters megohmmeters).
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints and technical documents.
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and industrial automation systems.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E standards and arc flash safety.
- Knowledge of motor controls VFDs and relay logic.
- Welding or fabrication skills are a plus but not required.
- Previous work in a manufacturing refinery or heavy industrial environment.
