As a Regional Safety Engineer you will lead the Health and Safety function of your assigned area. You will be responsible for advancing safety culture and improving the health and safety of our data centers by protecting our employees through safety incident prevention investigation and mitigation. Each day you will work with our data center community the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment large scale air handling and mechanical systems and critical IT gear. You will work closely with experts in security construction operations logistics compliance corporate counsel and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will use data to evaluate trends related to leading and lagging indicators to help your customer focus on safety our organizations number one tenet. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. As AWS increases data capacity you will partner with construction managers to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure new tools and new products/processes.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.

Key job responsibilities
Daily interactions with our customers delivering health and safety leadership and guidance

Implement health and safety standards policies and practices including but not limited to; safety management systems training risk assessments and applicable safety regulations

Assist with industrial hygiene and ergonomics assessments.

Conduct health and safety audits of data centers and active construction sites to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements as well as life safety requirements

Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.

Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies business continuity and other unique events.

Maintain adequate safety record keeping and data integrity.

Perform data trend analysis to present to cluster leadership to support business and safety initiatives.

Consult and partner with compliance and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.

Identify risks and partner with Operations to permanently mitigate them via the hierarchy of controls.

- Experience handling confidential information
- Experience in compliance program management legal governance audit risk/loss prevention or equivalent
- Bachelors degree in Health and Safety or a related field

- Current active TS/SCI US Government Security Clearance
- 3 years of electrical or mechanical or 4 years of operations and on-call support for data center facilities mission critical plants or production facilities experience
- Experience with OSHA and other health and WHS regulatory requirements
- CSP or CIH certification.
- Working knowledge of the NFPA70E Standard and experience providing safety guidance for those working on medium voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with detailed hazard recognition and preparation of written assessments/proactive remedies.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
