About the Job

In this role you will play a key role in providing coordination across the MOPAC and VRU funded programmes and the Newham Safety Partnership (NSP) to develop and deliver strategies plans and initiatives to reduce crime and disorder support victims and improve community confidence. You will work in partnership across a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies to ensure robust governance and accountability of delivery and any associated financial spend.

The ideal candidate will take the lead for violence and vulnerability issues in Newham and contribute towards tackling the priorities for the Newham Safety Partnership which include reducing serious violence VAWG Hate Crime and Modern-Day Slavery. To support this work the post holder will develop community safety programmes and initiatives in partnership with council services statutory agencies and voluntary sector and community groups to ensure we respond to violence and vulnerability issues reflective of the NSP priorities and objectives.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of violence and vulnerability issues in Newham and contribute towards tackling the priorities for the Newham Safety Partnership which include reducing serious violence VAWG Hate Crime and Modern-Day Slavery.

  • Demonstrate proven experience of developing multi-agency partnerships to deliver violence reduction action plans initiatives and strategies.
  • Experience of commissioning and performance monitoring for effective contract management.
  • Supporting and developing multi-agency protocols and strategies.

  • Experience of leading and governing partnership programme delivery

  • Experience of managing budgets including grant allocations.

  • Experience of line management/supervision.

  • Excellent IT verbal and written communication skills with experience of high-level report writing and presentation of reports to varying audiences including elected members and senior management.

  • Willingness to work flexibly and respond to needs of the service including working ad-hoc evenings and weekends as well as attending residents meetings and resident engagement events across the borough.

Whilst this is a hybrid role the Community Safety Team are based at 1000 Dockside Road and there is a requirement to be office based a minimum of 2 days a week.
