About the Team:

The IT Program is one of seven programs within the College of Arts Business Law Education and IT. The IT Program offers courses at the Footscray Park Campus City Campus VU Sydney Campus and two offshore campuses in Sri Lanka (NSBM) and China (HeNan University).

About the Role:

As a Level B Lecturer in the Information Technology Program you will support the Programs strategic growth through AI-enhanced software and systems education. The role focuses on integrating Generative AI and large language models (LLMs) into modern IT disciplines including software development cloud and mobile applications UI/UX and ICT project management.

The Program is undertaking a major course-modernisation initiative that integrates large language models (LLMs) into learning teaching practice and assessment. This GenAI integration will help students master complex concepts faster and deliver sophisticated solutions that meet industry demand. Accordingly the lecturer is expected to have solid experience in LLM calls RAG and copilot systems such as Claude Code or OpenAI Codex. He/she will lead the redevelopment of units (subjects) in software development network management project management mobile app development cloud app development UI/UX and will design sample theses and capstone projectsat both undergraduate and postgraduate levelsthat demonstrate innovative LLM applications in an industry context and research.

Position Key Duties

  • Teaching & coordination Deliver and coordinate IT units onshore and at TNE partner locations experiencing staff shortages.
  • Curriculum renewal Convert existing units in software development mobile and cloud apps UI/UX network management and ICT management into GenAI-integrated offerings.
  • Research & innovation Develop an applied LLM research agenda aligned with IT and AI leading to Q1/CORE A* publications and showcase systems.
  • Student experience Design capstone projects and theses demonstrating industry-relevant GenAI applications.
  • Academic service Contribute to grants collegial activities and inclusive teaching practices.

Salary: Academic B $113221 - $134449 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation
Employment Type: 3-year full-time fixed-term contract (potential for ongoing appointment after the course-modernisation project)
Hours: 36.75 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
Location:Located at our Footscray Park & City Tower Campus (may be relocated to any existing or future work location)

About You:

You are an IT academic with strong AI capability and a commitment to innovative practice-oriented education.

You will bring:

  • A PhD in IT AI or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in LLM APIs RAG and AI copilots (e.g. Claude Code OpenAI Codex)
  • A strong research trajectory in applied AI and IT systems
  • Proven success in curriculum innovation and student supervision
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative student-focused approach

  • Recent teaching feedback.
