Job Summary:

The Physician Assistant evaluates and treats patients with orthopaedic problems in the Urgent Care office environment.

Office Hours:Mon - Fri: 8:00am - 7:30pm

Schedule:six 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift on a biweekly schedule totaling 40 hours per week

Salary:$100000.00/yr - $150000/yr*

*Suggested salary will be based on candidates years of direct relevant experience

Key Accountabilities:

Increase patient satisfaction and productivity compliance with policy and procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats patients during office hours to assure high quality and efficient Orthopedic care. Participates in all aspects of ambulatory patient care.
  • Stabilization of acute and subacute orthopedic injuries/conditions. Orders and applies splints and braces.
  • Instructs patients and family regarding treatment instructions and medications.
  • Assist patients and staff with arranging timely and appropriate follow up.
  • Responsible for ordering and reviewing X-rays during office hours.
  • Orders advanced diagnostic studies and helps to arrange follow up to go over results.
  • Prescribes Physical Therapy for patients.
  • Writes faxes and/or phones in prescriptions for patients.
  • Completes patient school/work notes. Arrange follow up if patient needs Disability forms filled out.
  • Dictates and documents all patient encounters.
  • Reviews available past medical history of who present to Urgent care for orthopedic problems.
  • Performs joint reduction joint aspiration and joint injections for appropriate orthopedic conditions.
  • Consults with RI attending physician to discuss management and plan of care on as needed basis
  • Communicates with RI physicians RI Staff and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care.
  • Coordinates with Urgent Care PAs/NPs to create a monthly coverage schedule.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Active licensure as a Physician Assistant active CPR Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the ER or Urgent Care settings
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in orthopaedics.
  • Orthopaedic or Emergency Department experience preferred
  • Comfortable evaluating/treating acute orthopedic injuries and working up orthopedic problems
  • Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office
