TEMPORARY ICT Computer Systems Trainer/Applicant Support

35 hours/week 12 months

THE ROLE

This is application support training computer operational and clerical work of considerable variety and complexity involving the provision of application support and training for all School District staff in the areas of software and administrative support services. An incumbent exercises a considerable degree of independent judgment action and problem solving in dealing with all School District staff on a variety of application support and training matters. After initial instructions and indoctrination work is performed in accordance with established procedures under minimum supervision and is reviewed and evaluated in terms of conformance with established policy and procedures and effective services rendered to staff. Unusual or difficult problems are referred to a supervisor. The incumbent exercises courtesy diplomacy and problem solving abilities in supplying information and assistance to staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Thorough knowledge of desktop computer operation and School District and web-based software.
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods and practices used in the education and training of staff in the use of desktop computers and software applications.
  • Considerable knowledge of the rules regulations and policies governing school and district operations.
  • Considerable knowledge of business English spelling punctuation and arithmetic.
  • Ability to operate a computer and software applications to prepare maintain and produce a variety of materials in accordance with School District and Ministry methods and procedures.
  • Ability to train School District staff in the operation of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and act with a considerable degree of independent judgment and action on a variety of matters.
  • Ability to utilize training software develop and implement training programs and materials.
  • Ability to monitor adapt and respond to meet the varied training needs of staff.
  • Ability to perform a variety of moderately complex secretarial clerical and accounting tasks
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and others and interpret and explain applicable rules policies and procedures and supply information and assistance as required.
  • Ability to remain current with improvements and changes in software.
  • Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Superior clerical aptitude.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent supplemented by four months of related courses in office automation productivity and communication tools. Relevant training and/or use certification such as MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) desirable. Two to four years experience related to the work or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Valid drivers license for the Province of British Columbia.

This is a unionized position and the current rate of pay is $33.83 per hour shall be entitled to benefits as per the Collective Agreement who have successfully completed the prescribed period of probation. Please see Article 6.1 of the Collective Agreement for more information.
