Schedule: MondayFriday 7:00 AM 2:45 PM
Pay Rate:$45 to $48.00 per hour
Role Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher with expertise in Intellectual Disabilities (ID) and Multiple Disabilities (MD) to support students in a secondary school setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive educational environment delivering specialized instruction to students who require individualized learning strategies and structured support.
Key Responsibilities
Specialized Instruction: Design and implement modified and adapted curricula aligned with the cognitive physical and functional needs of students with ID and MD.
IEP Development & Implementation: Lead the development review and execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Life Skills & Functional Academics: Provide instruction focused on functional academics social development independent living skills and vocational readiness appropriate for high school students.
Classroom Leadership: Manage classroom operations and supervise paraprofessionals to maintain a safe structured and inclusive learning environment.
Collaboration: Work closely with parents therapists and school administrators to ensure coordinated and comprehensive student support.
Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress and communicate performance data clearly and effectively to families and educational stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education.
Licensure: Active Virginia Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement (Adapted Curriculum or K12 SPED).
Experience: Demonstrated experience working with students with significant intellectual and/or multiple disabilities.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain student progress and instructional strategies to diverse audiences.
