Job Summary

SUMMARY:The Chillicothe R-II School District is seeking a qualified Instrumental Music Assistant Band Director to support the districts comprehensive music education program for grades 6-12. The Chillicothe Band program consists of 6th grade band 7th grade band 8th grade band and the CHS Marching Hornets/Symphonic Band. Additional ensembles are offered outside of curricular classes such as jazz bands and pep band. The Assistant Director is expected to teach direct and lead classes at Chillicothe Middle School and assist the Director of Bands at Chillicothe High School.

Responsible for student learning teaching instructing guiding and directing all students assigned to his/her class. The teacher will assist in maintaining an orderly and safe environment and perform duties as assigned. The Teacher will plan learning activities to assist students in gaining knowledge developing skills and attaining educational goals. The Teacher is also responsible for measuring and evaluating student progress toward attainment of educational goals and will work collaboratively with staff students and parents to support the academic and social development of each student.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

  • Develops and aligns curriculum with State standards.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum disaggregate student data and develop strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Supports the implementation of the district curriculum and educational initiatives.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports and shares information with parents and guardians.
  • Promotes parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children and keep parents informed regarding progress (academic and behavioral/social).
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Serves on District committees as assigned.
  • Upholds the value and standards of the Chillicothe School District promoting a strong culture of safety and security.
  • Engages in professional development that supports the Districts CSIP and improves teaching skills and the development of student learners leading to improved student achievement.
  • Observes confidentiality regarding students and staff when communicating to others.
  • Observes all policies rules and regulations of the Board of Education as stated in the Board of Education policies.
  • Participates in grade level and/or content area building and district meetings.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises classroom students aides volunteers and areas as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of a Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Education for appropriate grade level.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Possess a valid State of Missouri Teaching Certificate for the appropriate assigned instructional area.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month employee. Some areas may require an extended contract. Salary is to be established by the Board of Education.
