Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards rules and regulations in a professional and reasonable manner
- Utilize tact diplomacy and sound judgment while on duty
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide First Aid CPR or AED support until medical professionals arrive
- Maintain and enforce access control procedures
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of emergency response and standard operating procedures
- Address trespassers and unauthorized persons in a fair calm and safe manner
- Conduct regular patrols of the property on foot
- Monitor CCTV surveillance systems
- Investigate incidents occurrences and suspicious activities
- Prepare detailed incident and occurrence reports and maintain accurate memo book entries
- Maintain the safety security and peace of patrons staff and clients
- De-escalate conflict emergency and crisis situations
- Assist emergency responders and law enforcement personnel as required
- Perform access control line management and customer service duties
- Support daily security and site operations as directed
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 6 months of prior security experience required
- Experience in Retail Security or Loss Prevention is considered a strong asset
- Must be able to stand walk and patrol for extended periods (812 hours)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and reliability
- Proactive approach to on-site situations and potential risks
- Ability to retain and follow instructions provided by management
- Capable of handling high-stress situations and making sound decisions under pressure
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced busy and highly populated retail environment
- High attention to detail and strong observational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills emotional intelligence and ability to work effectively within a team
- Willingness to accept constructive feedback
- First Aid Level 1 is an asset but not mandatory
