Position SummaryThe Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inventory control activities including cycle counting receiving operations and maintaining overall inventory accuracy for raw materials components work-in-process (WIP) and finished goods. This role leads both the cycle counting and receiving teams and works cross-functionally with Operations Production Control Logistics and Quality to resolve discrepancies and drive continuous improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Accuracy and Control- Lead and manage the daily cycle counting program for raw materials WIP and finished goods
- Monitor analyze and reconcile inventory variances and lead root-cause investigations
- Drive corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy and reduce discrepancies
- Maintain and improve inventory accuracy KPIs including adjustments cycle count attainment and stock aging
- Ensure accurate execution of inventory transactions in ERP/MRP systems including receipts issues transfers and BOM adjustments
- Coordinate and lead annual and periodic physical inventory counts
Receiving Operations- Supervise the receiving team to ensure timely and accurate receipt of inbound materials and supplies
- Ensure materials are properly inspected labeled documented and transacted into the ERP system
- Oversee unloading staging and verification processes to ensure accuracy and quality compliance
- Resolve discrepancies between bills of lading scheduling agreements and actual receipts
- Coordinate with Materials Planning and Quality to address supplier-related issues
- Ensure proper storage and material flow from receiving to warehouse locations
Team Leadership- Supervise train and coach cycle counters inventory control staff and receiving team members
- Assign daily tasks set performance expectations and conduct performance reviews
- Develop team capabilities through cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives
Process Safety and Compliance- Ensure compliance with safety standards and OSHA requirements
- Lead and participate in root-cause analysis of safety incidents
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures for inventory handling and reconciliation
- Partner with Quality and Operations to maintain material traceability and compliance with automotive standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO
- Audit material flow processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
- Review and update inventory control procedures as needed
- Participate in the design and audit of labeling processes to meet customer requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with Production Planning Materials and Logistics to support accurate scheduling and material availability
- Support Engineering with BOM audits engineering changes and master data governance
- Communicate inventory risks issues and resolutions clearly to internal stakeholders
Education and Experience- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Logistics Business or a related field preferred
- 3 years of inventory control experience ideally in automotive or high-volume manufacturing
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience required
Skills and Competencies- Strong knowledge of inventory control processes cycle counting and root-cause analysis
- Experience with automotive quality standards such as IATF 16949 preferred
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP Oracle Plex QAD or similar
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred
Compensation- $60000 $65000 per year dependent on experience
