Leads the engineering design function within Corporate Real Estate (CRE) supporting the global real estate portfolio for all electrical mechanical and communication systems. Owns the engineering standards for critical environments (e.g. data centres & trade floors) office and retail sites. Provides design governance for all construction projects and facility management programs and issues.
Provide subject matter expertise to key stakeholders including CRE functions senior executives line of business management internal service providers and external vendors. Make every effort to understand the complexities and risks affecting business operations.
Provide engineering design support for physical security infrastructure including the electrical and communications standards.
Leads the research of innovative solutions in the industry in support of performance and efficiency objectives.
Supports development of a best-in-class energy management program that balances operational risk with performance improvement to achieve energy reduction decarbonization and cost savings.
Provides enhanced technical support to operations teams managing mission critical infrastructure (e.g. back-up power generators uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems critical power distribution chiller plants) at identified sites including data centres call centres trading floors and other critical environments on a 7/24/365 basis globally ensuring maximum availability reliability and efficiency.
Supports the alignment of strategies between the business groups / functions and Corporate Real Estate on matters pertaining to business priorities service availability business continuity and security.
Partners with facility management providers to minimize risk of unplanned downtime and protect the organizations infrastructure investment while supporting prudent cost management.
Leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reviews for all major incidents and supports high risk work activities within the Critical Environments portfolio.
Provides expert level advice in the interpretation and analysis of highly complex equipment issues and emergencies.
Continually innovates as a business-as-usual competency in the areas of energy efficiency safety cost reduction implementation effectiveness and speed to market.
Ensures physical and information security standards protocols and procedures are adhered to.
Ensures the design of engineering solutions is compliant with industry regulations building codes by-laws and underwriters requirements.
Creates and supports a positive environment of excellence in service quality and people leadership.
Designs establishes and maintains an operating and organizational model to effectively accomplish the organizations goals and objectives; recruits employs develops and effectively manage internal and external resources.

Qualifications:
Completion of a University degree in Electrical Engineering certified professional engineer.
15-20 years of experience in critical facilities design engineering including experience with project delivery operational support strategy formulation and planning.
Expert knowledge of electrical and communication systems is required strong knowledge of mechanical structural and architectural systems. Particularly as related to data centres and field construction methods.
Solid understanding of computer and data processing operations computer hardware telecommunications legal and insurance methodologies and impacts.
Proven leadership and managerial skills. Strong planning and organizing skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities for the team.
Exceptional problem and decision analysis skills. Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions in response to complex problems.
Ability to lead and work well under high pressure / stressful situations. Willing to be called upon during and after normal business hours to support major incidents globally.
Proven ability to lead large/complex change management initiatives.
Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong understanding of project management processes.

The above represents BMO Financial Groups pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Groups expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Groups total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives discretionary bonuses as well as other perks and rewards.
