The starting hourly rate for this position is between $21.50 and $24.00 per hour based on a 37.5 hour work week and commensurate with candidate experience and education. Summer at Perimeter is busy and we need your help. We have summer student positions available throughout the Institute running from May 4 2026 to August 21 2026.

The Training and Scientific Programs Summer Student role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event coordination visitor engagement online tools data analysis and library organization at Perimeter Institute. They will contribute to the smooth operation of key programs and services by working closely with team members involved in conferences and scientific events training programs visitor services and Perimeter experience. They will gain exposure to the logistics of scientific events and the coordination of international participants as well as develop attention to detail and familiarity with academic resource management.

What you will do:

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to Perimeters conference program including helping manage check-in procedures preparing name badges and supporting the development of conference schedules
  • Contribute to the creation and assembly of visitor welcome packages
  • Tailor welcome and conference materials for diverse audiences including researchers educators and guests
  • Manage Library Organization Project including reviewing and reorganizing library shelves to ensure proper shelving and categorization of materials
  • Compile a catalog of graduate-level physics courses offered across universities and research institutes in Ontario
  • Gather input from the Perimeter student community to identify and prioritize topics for new online courses and learning resources
  • Support the design development and delivery of new online graduate-level courses using the Thinkific course platform
  • Review and analyze alumni data around various categories including developing data visualization on relevant alumni metrics

What you need to have:

  • Current or graduating student in post-secondary education related to administration event coordination science outreach education data analysis or a related field
  • A detail-oriented individual able to prioritize and ask for help and resources when needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to relate to others and work collaboratively within a team toward shared goals
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in various software (e.g. MS Office)
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and open to learning
  • Previous knowledge or experience with program development is an asset but not required
