Power & Drive Systems is responsible for the development of powertrains in both battery and gasoline products. We develop the next generation of handheld products for the forestry industry and urban environments. You will play a key role in the development of our future 2-stroke engines.

Role Description

The work is carried out in a project-based environment where your development tasks include close collaboration with various Husqvarna departments manufacturing units and suppliers worldwide. Within the Husqvarna organization you will find central functions enabling efficient and powerful product development such as material laboratories verification labs prototype workshops CAE departments and more. The proximity to these functions creates a unique environment for those who want to work and grow within mechanical design.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will among other things:

  • Take part in the entire development process from concept studies and new products to maintenance initiatives and costsaving activities.
  • Support Design for Assembly (DFA). You will also contribute to team deliveries and manage internal and external relationships.

Your Profile

To thrive in this role you are proactive curious and driven by a strong interest in technical details. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a team. You have strong communication skills and can easily make decisions and provide recommendations for the next steps in the development process.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Masters or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Has at least 3 years of experience in mechanical product development.
  • Has experience in mechanical design.
  • Has experience working with CATIA V5 & PLM Teamcenter.
  • Communicates fluently in Swedish and English.

Meritorious Qualifications:

  • Documented experience working with cast components as well as advanced knowledge in geometrical assurance and metal constructions.
  • Basic knowledge of combustion engine technology.
  • Experience with casting processes metal machining and cost management as well as frequent contact with suppliers and customers.
  • Responsibility for individual or all detailed designs plus overall system integration in the product.

Location & Work Setup

Our team is based in Huskvarna where we believe in the value of working closely together. While some flexibility exists we aim for 80% on-site presence as collaboration is at the heart of how we work.
