Job Summary
GAI Consultants Inc. is seeking an Associate Transmission & Distribution CAD Operator. This position will be based out of our Pittsburgh PA or DuBois PA office. The ideal candidate has good analytical thinking problem-solving techniques computer-aided drafting (CAD) experience and excellent communication skills. This position will be responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with transmission line and distribution design.
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist engineers and project managers with day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include:
- Preparation of Specification Packages.
- Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings.
- Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD PLS-POLE and PLS-Tower.
- Design and Analysis of foundations.
- Analysis of existing and proposed structures regarding Client and other required codes standards and specifications.
- Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations.
- Coordination and development of permits for Railroads Roadways and Environmental Crossings.
- Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects.
- Demonstrate attention detail.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Perform complex tasks typically following established processes.

Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School
Technical Responsibilities
- Basic 2-D line work and text edits. Plot and create PDF drawings. Perform red-line edits.âFollows basic QA/QC procedures. Assist with general office functions such as printing and folding drawings
Project and Task Management
- Responsible for personal task management and adherence toâdeadlines and scope
Management Responsibility
- No Management responsibilities
- Close supervision on work assignments
Communication Skills
- Possess basic oral and written communication skills. interacts effectively with other staff. Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others

- Ability to workin outdoor environments under varying weather conditions including extreme heat cold rain and rugged toactive construction sites.

- Must be able to lift andcarrytoolsequipmenttechnical samples documents andother materials weighing up to 4050 pounds.
- Frequent bending crouching and climbing may berequiredduring fieldwork and sample collection.
- Ability to safelyoperateand wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets safety glasses gloveshearing protectionand bootsas required by site safety protocols.
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handletechnicaltools read maps and instrumentsobservesite conditionsand document findings accurately.
- Comfortable working in remote or isolated locations sometimes for extended durations.
- Comfortable working in confined spacesand/oratheights as required by specific project sites.
- May require driving long distances to field sites and operating vehicles on unpaved or uneven roads.
