Job description

Are you ready to contribute to cutting edge programmes and technologies that will help to shape the future of the Armed Forces capabilities We have opportunities for experienced Electronic Systems and Sensors engineers to play a vital role in strengthening our national defence.

In these influential roles you may work across a variety of domainsMaritime Land and Airsupporting the development and delivery of advanced technologies such as Electronic Warfare Avionics Situational Awareness and Command and Control systems. Your work may span the full engineering life cycle from concept development and requirements management through to integration validation in-service support and eventual disposal.

Youll collaborate closely with key stakeholders including our military customersthe Royal Navy British Army and Royal Air Forceas well as industry partners. Your technical expertise will be essential in providing guidance assurance and innovation across a range of high-impact projects.

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtainSecurity Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role youve been recruited for. If it isnt obtained or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isnt obtained within 12 months.

What youll be doing

• Requirements - Own the generation of ESS requirements defining technical deliverables/artifacts and updating other documentation for systems including the considerations to in-service support and associated costs.

• Technical Data - Authorise technical data input and changes to support the management and maturity of engineering documentation focusing on successful technical outcomes.

• Legislation/Policy - Working in a highly regulated area educate others with relevant legislation regulation policy processes and standards to deliver technical documentation for a system. This includes the essential relation to quality safety security and sustainability of the system and the interoperability with other sub-systems.

• Risk - Identifies and analyses technical hazards /project impacts then contributes to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed.

• Stakeholder Management - Collaborate and manage trade-offs with other sub-system teams and specialists over ESS requirements and design compromises to maximise successful system implementation and delivery.

Person specification
To be successful with your application youll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Demonstrable wide ranging depth and breadth experience of providing technical advice and delivery of successful Mechanical or Airfield Support outcomes.
• Professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) as a minimum or demonstrate equivalent experience with an expectation that IEng (or alternative) will be achieved within 12 months of joining permanently. This will be monitored via objectives & capability-based pay pilots as appropriate.
