Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

TeHerenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting three permanent full-time Library Assistants to join the Client Services and Collection Access teams.

These roles are primarily on-site with some additional flexibility for working across different campuses.

Library Assistant Client Services: These two roles will be responsible for assisting clients with a range of queries through our library service points and various other channels delivering material to our clients through course reserves and maintaining our physical spaces and collections. These roles will be based at either the Kelburn or Pipitea campuses.

Library Assistant Collection Access: This role will be responsible for delivering material to clients via the Librarys resource delivery services and undertaking a range of operational activities which support the access and discoverability of the Librarys physical collections. This role is based at the Kelburn campus library.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist clients to find library content use electronic resources and self-service options at both physical and virtual service points in a way that reflects our service principles.
  • Support the delivery of material from our collections material not held in the Library and provide Library material to other institutions through the Librarys interloan service.
  • Contribute to the management of the Librarys physical collections including shelving signage and the movement of collections.

Key requirements:

  • The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role such as the lifting and movement of books and other material around the Library.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and demonstrated ability to develop proficiency in new software applications.

Have demonstrated:

  • Experience working effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and appropriately both orally and in writing.
  • Attention to detailandtheability toproblem solve.
  • Experience of being well organised and accurate with daily tasks.
  • Experience providing high quality customer service.
