Job Summary

AECOM is hosting an exclusive invitation-only hiring event in Raleigh on January 28-29 2026. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects career paths and the company itself. Youll also have the chance to meet other students recent graduates and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday interviews will take place at our Raleigh office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is actively seeking a creative motivated and highly talented Geospatial Data Scientist Intern in the Baltimore Maryland office. The appropriately qualified applicant will demonstrate knowledge commensurate with upper-level student learnedness in Geographic Information Systems and Data Science. This position will provide support for engineering and planning projects focused on water/wastewater utilities surface transportation aviation and water resources.
 
This position is expected to begin May 2026.
 
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Produce high quality cartographically sound maps graphics and figures.
  • Create manage edit and maintain various types of GIS data including spatial databases.
  • Collect and manage field and survey data using mobile GPS equipment.
  • Transfer data to/from GPS devices and post-process using differential correction.
  • Perform QA/QC review of GIS data and compile metadata.
  • Digitize scan and georeference maps engineering drawings and imagery.
  • Automate mapping and geoprocessing tasks using Esri Model Builder and Python.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelors Degree or higher in GIS Data Science Environmental Science or a related field with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.
  • Candidates must have completed two years of study in their program.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with desktop GIS software packages including Esris ArcGIS suite including ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online and mobile applications.
  • Experience creating managing editing and manipulating spatial data in various formats
  • Experience working with spatial and non-spatial databases.
  • Ability to work in both office and field settings.
  • Ability and willingness to multi-task and work on many projects simultaneously in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
