The College of Natural Resources (CNR) has a full-time laboratory staff (100%) position available in the Department of Paper Science and Chemical Engineering. The Process Control Lab Specialist is responsible for maintaining and upkeep of laboratory equipment and assisting with instruction in laboratory experiments. Experience in and desire to work with diverse populations of learners and stakeholders are required.

Process Control Laboratory Development

Familiarity with PLC programming basic control elements and control logic

Work with faculty to acquire equipment and develop laboratory experiments including safety requirements
Work with the department chair to develop an acquisition strategy for the necessary equipment
Laboratory Instruction Use and Maintenance
Assist in developing and teaching the laboratory component for 1) an online 15-credit graduate-level certificate in Process Control Engineering and 2) undergraduate laboratory courses for Chemical Engineering and Paper Science and Engineering students.
Develops integrates tests and modifies scientific equipment to support educational goals specifically through remote computer access to equipment by students
Provides technical instruction for equipment use to staff students and clients to ensure safe operation
Designs plans and performs preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and optimal operation
Maintains a clean safe laboratory working environment
Maintains close contact with equipment vendors
The Paper Science and Chemical Engineering department houses two majors: Paper Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering both of which are accredited by ABET. The department is in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The College supports premier undergraduate natural resource programs with disciplines in Fisheries and Water Resources Forestry Environment and Society Soil and Waste Resources Wildlife Ecology and the Department of Paper Science and Chemical Engineering.
