This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.
The Admiral Nurse will support deliver and coordinate relationQueen Alexandra Hospitalship-centred dementia care in order to improve the experience of people with dementia and their families with complex needs during the acute stay and transitions of care within operational areas of Isle of Wight NHS Trust. Admiral Nurses work together with families to provide support expert guidance & practical solutions.
In line with the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework at a specialist level the post holder will provide:
- Specialist bio-psychosocial assessment and support for people with dementia and families with complex needs
- Facilitation of education and training for staff in the delivery of evidence-based dementia care
- Contribute to policy development and quality improvement initiatives with regard to dementia care.
- Consultancy to other health and social care professionals regarding dementia
- The post holder will assist with the operational delivery of the Trust Dementia Strategy with support from the Consultant Admiral Nurse.

Qualifications :
Essential
Registered Nurse (RN/RNMH/RNLD)
Evidence of specialist training/education within the field of dementia
Evidence of continued professional development/training in relevant areas for example dementia or leadership
Commitment to continued professional and practice development through Dementia UKs Admiral Nurse Academy
Desirable
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area
Additional Information :
As part of the Single Corporate Service this role is a designated site-based role at Queen Alexandra Hospital however the post holder will be part of the Corporate Service team which provides a service across both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
As the single corporate service will be delivered across both organisations individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. The frequency and arrangements will be discussed on an individual basis and the staff mobility local agreement will apply.
