CIMA is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Infrastructure group working out of our Kitchener office supporting our water and wastewater construction team. This role provides an exciting opportunity in construction management supporting our communities with vital water and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Our ideal candidate will have experience ensuring the quality and compliance of process mechanical and electrical installations for water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engineering site inspection on water and wastewater construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards engineering design and technical specifications.
- Document construction site activities (keeping a detailed daily report log taking photos performing survey checks and recording as-built conditions) and identify and monitor deficiencies.
- Provide problem resolution and field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and participate in construction progress meetings.
- Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing (for concrete granular materials and asphalt) and coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety.
- Liaise with clients regulatory inspectors various utility companies residents and other stakeholders as required
Qualifications :
- Technical degree or diploma in a related field.
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment or pump station construction; 5 years of experience preferred but will consider candidates with at least 2 years of directly relevant experience.
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff contractors and the public in matters arising from construction projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word Excel Project Outlook etc.) and Bluebeam.
- MTO Class G drivers license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle.
